Daniel has a Bachelor of Social Work degree and has completed an additional four years of psychotherapy training. He has extensive experience working with individuals and couples in community based organisations in Perth. Daniel also has experience supervising other counsellors and as a group facilitator.
Daniel provides a safe, supportive and non-judgmental environment for clients to explore individual and relationship concerns. His counselling approach includes Gestalt therapy as well as a variety of other cognitive, behavioural and interpersonal therapeutic techniques.
Daniel believes in the holistic nature of human experience and he is particularly interested in exploring with clients concepts such as integrity, respect, responsibility, power and control, intimacy, trust and adult development. He believes in each person's inherent capacity to heal, grow and change throughout their life and that difficulties experienced along the way provide opportunities for growth to occur. Daniel's aim is to provide optimum conditions to facilitate these healing and growth processes. He believes that actively addressing life's challenges helps us to become more resilient and can result in leading a more fulfilled life.
Counselling is targeted towards more specific issues and often involves developing greater awareness of existing strengths and capacities as well as blind spots. It also involves clarifying goals and values and identifying opportunities and strategies that will help clients to move forward in their lives.
Psychotherapy can be helpful for those people who wish to understand in more detail how their past experiences have resulted in self defeating patterns that continue to restrict their enjoyment of a rich and full life.
