Andrew is an accredited Gestalt Therapist and Medicare Accredited Clinical Social Worker. He has 14 years experience working with adults and teenagers in the Government and non-government mental health care services. Andrew is experienced in providing counselling to adults and young people (from the age of 13), for depression, anxiety, stress, drug and alcohol addictions, post traumatic stress disorder, complex abuse and family related conflict. He specialises in working with both adults and teenagers who self harm or who are suicidal and have a background of complex stress and abuse in childhood. Andrew's interest is in fostering positive mental health, resiliency, and to assist his clients in finding personal meaning and happiness in their lives.
Andrew uses a range of therapeutic (Counselling) approaches, namely Gestalt Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy to assist people to develop cognitive, emotional and behavioural skills and self-understanding that are long lasting and meaningful. In addition to his private practice work, Andrew works for a national youth mental health initiative providing counselling to young people and their families and clinical supervision to staff. He also provides clinical supervision to counsellors & students from various community mental health services and tertiary institutes.
